dc.description.abstract Polarstern left Punta Arenas via the Straits of Magellan on 11 April shortly after 18:00 LT. The fifth leg (ANT-XXV/5) concluded her five-months long journey to Antarctica. The long passage across the Atlantic was used for a wide range of underway observations. It was supplemented by a limited number of intermediate stops for mostly shallow observations in the euphotic zone
