Caracterização geofísica da zona piloto

Abstract

The Law by Decree number 5 of the year 2008 (Decreto-Lei nº 5/2008) legally delimited an offshore area (henceforth called “Pilot Zone”) for trials in production of marine renewable energies. ENONDAS is responsible for the maintenance of the electric infrastructure of the Pilot Zone and for the interface with the Rede Eletrica Nacional (REN - National Electric Network) It is also responsible for the general characterization of the marine environment as well as for the dissemination, when requested, of data and information related to other areas of study, such as the general description of the sea bottom and oceanographic parameters. As a result, by the end of 2010/early 2011, IH was invited to submit a proposal addressing the general characterization of the marine environment of the Pilot Zone. After some engagement sessions, a contract was signed on the 15th of May 2011 with ENONDAS S.A.. The project, titled “Caracterização Geofísica da Zona Piloto” (Geophysical Characterization of the Pilot Zone) started on the same day, and was planned to last for 15 months. This document reports the results obtained and describes the activities executed to achieve the goals and objectives established in the May 2011 contract. It describes the major characteristics of the continental shelf on the Pilot Zone area
