Abstract:
The present report describes the work developed by Hydrographic Institute (IH)during 36 months, since October 2009 to October 2012, under the scope of the SURGE (Simple Underwater Renewable Generation Energy) European project.The work aims at the environmental characterization of the WAVEROLLER testing site off Almagreiro beach (Peniche). To accomplish that goal the following fieldwork took place: 3 bathymetric surveys were performed off the Almagreiro beach in a 2 square miles area between the coast and 25 m depth; 2 superficial sediment sampling campaign and one vertical sampling campaign were carried in referred studied area; constant wave data acquisition by the ADCP located at 25 m depth; 13 topographic beach surveys were performed in Almagreiro beach plus 8 beach sedimentological campaigns.
